After his father's untimely death, a young boy lives in a country house with his widowed stepmother, who is in deep grief and whose fragile bond threatens to break down. Before long, the boy begins to hear disturbing noises echoing in the hallways, and is soon haunted by a strange creature that looks a lot like his father. His stepmother tells him he's imagining it all, but their lives spin out of control when the creature starts causing trouble.
