Set in the 1950s, Adlaine Rudolph stars as a rookie agent for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD) who teams up with Hellboy to protect the residents of Appalachia from the terrifying Crooked Man, who collects souls for the devil. Legend has it that Hellboy was discovered as a baby by BPRD founder Professor Trevor "Broom" Bruttenholm and was trained to protect humanity from monsters even less enlightened than himself.
