On the eve of the invasion of Iraq in 2003, Porter led a team of special forces to participate in the hostage rescue operation. Because of his reluctance, he let go of the local child soldiers with guns. As a result, his teammates were killed, and even he and Carlinson were injured and suffered heavy losses. Seven years later, Porter was able to return to the battlefield to make amends.
