Plot:
Netflix is launching an animated series based on Japanese folklore, Oni, from the famous artist and former Pixar art director Daisuke Tsutsumi and the animation studio TonkoHouse he founded (created "The Dam Keeper" and others). The show is set in a world full of strange gods and monsters in Japanese mythology, focusing on the daughter of one of these creatures, the free-spirited Onari, who is determined to follow in the footsteps of the heroes of the past, but her unique abilities have not yet been revealed. As a mysterious "ghost" emerges and grows, threatening the existence of the gods, Onari will gradually see whether she has the ability to protect her quiet village. The show will be a mix of stop-motion animation created by Japanese animation studio Dwarf and CG animation created by Japanese animation studio MegalisVFX.
