On August 15, 1944, the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team parachuted into southern France. Their mission was to support and protect Allied forces advancing toward Berlin. Landing in enemy territory, they were part of a direct assault. As they struggled to complete their mission and reunite with their forces, three isolated paratroopers stumbled upon a French resistance group in desperate need of help. They decided to help rescue some imprisoned partisans.
