A mysterious giant sinkhole appears in Los Angeles, splitting a family in two, with the mother and son separated from the father and daughter. When part of the family finds themselves in an inexplicably primitive world with a motley crew of strangers, they must fight to survive and unravel the mystery of where they are and whether there is a way home. Gonzalez will play an Air Force pilot who is recruited to lead the mission to rescue those who have fallen into the sinkhole.
