The play is set in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. It tells the story of the unruly and pretty cook Da Xi (played by Bai Lu) who accidentally exchanged souls with the king Ji Man (played by Zhang Yijie) after entering the palace, and a series of hilarious stories followed.
