The story takes place in a desolate southern town, where the environment has been severely damaged by the uncontrolled development of heavy industry. Residents have moved away one after another. It is conceivable that the town will become a wasteland soon. The girl Shuiqing (played by Li Gengxi) lost her mother since childhood and grew up under the haze caused by her stepmother. Her only wish is to see her biological mother Qu Ting (played by Wan Qian) whom she has never met. At the age of seventeen, Shuiqing's dream came true. Qu Ting returned to the town and re-participated in Shuiqing's life, bringing her long-lost warmth and happiness. Qu Ting and Shuiqing's girlfriends also formed the "Youth Rabbit Gang" together. The happy days together were the only bright spot in Shuiqing's life, but this bright spot was destroyed by the arrival of a mysterious man named Lao Du (played by Huang Jue).
