Catherine discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim in a drained cistern, setting off a chain of events that unwittingly leads her directly to Tommy Lee Royce. Catherine's grandson Ryan, now 16, still lives with her, but has his own ideas about the kind of relationship he wants with the man his grandmother refuses to acknowledge as his father. Still battling the town's seemingly endless drug problem and the people who supply it, Catherine is nearing retirement.
