Plot:
Painless is a fictional, scripted limited series that explores the origins and consequences of the opioid crisis in the United States, focusing on the stories of perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers whose lives were forever changed by the invention of OxyContin. Painless examines crime, accountability, and a system that repeatedly fails hundreds of thousands of Americans, and is based on Barry Meyer's book PAINKILLER and Patrick Radden Keefe's article The Family That Built an Empire of Pain in The New Yorker. Executive producers include Eric Newman, Peter Berg, and Alex Gibney, along with showrunners/creators Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster. Starring Uzo Aduba, Matthew Broderick, Taylor Kitsch, Dina Shiwabi, and West Duchovny.
