Vera is adapted from the novel by the famous crime novelist Ann Cleeves and adapted into a screenplay by Paul Rutman. Brenda Blethyn plays Vera, who, like Wallander in Wallander, has her own problems, including the shadow of her dead father, loneliness, and weight-related illnesses. But the case always comes first. With the assistance of the young and handsome detective Joe Ashworth (played by David Leon), the two have solved many cases together and helped many victims' families get justice.
