The film is adapted from Hong Ying's novel of the same name, with Chongqing as its geographical background. It tells the story of a 12-year-old boy named Dou Xiaoming who was injured and went to the hospital in 1976. He met the nurse Jia Hui who took care of him and loved him. Jia Hui was born beautiful, but she married a local gangster named Gang Ge and suffered domestic violence. After learning about this, Dou Xiaoming stood up to fight for justice, which changed the fate of the three of them.
