The story comes from a novel by Chuck Logan. It tells the story of Phil Broker (Jason Statham), a former DEA agent who moves his family to a quiet town in the hope of escaping his past life. However, he finds that the town is ruled by violence, drug dealers and an evil nobleman named Gator (James Franco), and he must fight against Gator for his family.
