Plot:
"Taxi Driver" tells the story of Kim Sa-bok, a taxi driver who accidentally came to Gwangju with German journalist Jurgen Hinzpeter. In May 1980, Jurgen Hinzpeter, as a staff member of Germany's first public broadcaster ARD-NDR in Japan, recorded the Gwangju incident with images and wrote the book "Blue Eyed Witness", which made the world know about the May 18 Gwangju Massacre. He also won the Korean News Award in 2003. When accepting the award, Jurgen Hinzpeter also mentioned the taxi driver Kim Sa-bok in particular, "I want to thank the brave taxi driver Kim Sa-bok who brought me to Gwangju in May 1980 and served as my guide." Jurgen Hinzpeter passed away in January this year. The driver Kim who carried Jurgen Hinzpeter that year bravely shook off the martial law troops in the alleys of Gwangju and safely escorted ten rolls of film out of Gwangju. Song Kang-ho took off the emperor's coat in "The Throne" and transformed into a taxi driver in "Taxi Driver", returning to play the small character role he is best at. In addition, Liu Haizhen and the newcomer Liu Junyeol, who has recently emerged with films such as "Social Phobia" and "Reply 1988", will also join the film to play the role of anti-government soldiers. "Taxi Driver" is invested and distributed by SHOWBOX, and the director of "Brothers" and "Highland War" Zhang Xun is in charge of the filming. This is the second collaboration between director Zhang Xun and Song Kanghao after "Brothers" five years later.
