The film is adapted from the stage play of the same name "I Want to Meet Your Parents" about school violence, which was written by Japanese high school teacher and screenwriter Seiyu Hatazawa based on his teaching life experience. It tells the story of a junior high school student who committed suicide and left a suicide note. According to the names of the students listed in his suicide note, the parents of the perpetrators gathered at the school and had a fierce debate with the school about the victim's suicide note.
