Plot:
In 1942, on Guadalcanal Island, the 1st Marine Division of the U.S. Army occupied the Japanese airfield on the island, thus launching a strategic counter-offensive against Japan in the Pacific War. Three U.S. Marines, Lecky, Sledge and Basilone, experienced the most brutal Pacific War in World War II in the Pacific. In the Pacific, the Japanese Army was arrogant and launched a fierce offensive against the U.S. Army, and there were many suicide attacks during the period. From the tragic Battle of Guadalcanal, the Battle of Cape Gloucester, the Battle of the Tropical Jungle, the Battle of Peleliu, to the Battle of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa. Lecky (James Badge Dale), Sledge (Joseph Mazzello) and Basilone (Jon Seda) witnessed the Japanese army's stubborn resistance until the final defeat, and also saw their comrades continue to sacrifice in this tragic battle. As the most expensive American TV series about World War II, HBO spent 223 million U.S. dollars on it. This is also the second collaboration between Spielberg and Tom Hanks after "Band of Brothers".
