After Max (Kat Dennings)'s cake was praised by a well-known food critic in a magazine last season, Max and Caroline (Beth Behrs) excitedly waited for the result but received no response. The two had to continue working in a small restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, dealing with all kinds of customers. From time to time, they teased with the Asian boss Han Lee (Matthew Moy), the chef Oleg (Jonathan Kite) who always told dirty jokes, and Max's beloved cashier Earl (Garrett Morris).
