The film tells the story of two lonely individuals abandoned by their respective families in a rural area in Northwest China, who support each other in their day-to-day work. Wu Renlin and Hai Qing show the mental journey of a low-income peasant couple from strangers to acquaintances, from knowing each other to staying together.
