Plot:
It is said that during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, in the bustling downtown area, there lived Wei Xiaobao (Han Dong), the son of a prostitute who was slick, clever and cunning. He accidentally entered the palace as a young eunuch and suffered under the hands of the mysterious eunuch Hai Dafu. Later, he met the current emperor Kangxi (Wei Qianxiang), who challenged him in the name of "Xiao Xuanzi". The two became good brothers and joined forces to capture the powerful minister Aobai. During this period, Chen Jinnan, the chief helmsman of the Tiandihui, raised the banner of anti-Qing and restoration of Ming Dynasty and pointed his sword at the Qing court. The Southern Dragon Cult was ready to move and planted a gap in the palace. The Zheng family on the other side of the strait lived in a corner and took action. There were also three feudal lords composed of former Ming forces such as Wu Sangui and Shang Kexi, who occupied one side and had their own troops. At a time of external and internal troubles, Wei Xiaobao maneuvered flexibly, influencing the fate of the Qing Dynasty with different identities. The appearance of seven wives pushed his life to the climax... This film is adapted from the work of the same name by Jin Yong, a famous martial arts novelist.
