55-year-old Chinese-American immigrant Xiulian (played by Michelle Yeoh) has both her family and career collapsed. On her father's birthday, in addition to preventing her daughter (played by Stephanie Xu) from coming out of the closet and cleaning up the mess for her useless husband (played by Kwan Ji-wei), she also has to go to the tax bureau to explain the not-so-good tax problems to the old-fashioned aunt (played by Jamie Lee Curtis). As soon as she stepped into the elevator of the building, her soft and rotten husband suddenly transformed himself into a hacker mission, claiming that he was a version of another universe, and Xiulian was one of the millions of universes. Before she could understand, the evil forces had spread throughout the multiverse, and the world was about to be destroyed. Only in this universe could the "useless" Xiulian save the world...
