Based on the book of the same name by Jon Krakauer, the series will tell the story of the series of events that led to the murder of Brenda Wright Lafferty (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and her baby daughter in 1984, who lived in the suburbs of Salt Lake Valley, Utah. As Detective Jeb Pyre (Andrew Garfield) investigates the internal affairs of the Lafferty family, he uncovers some unknown secrets: the origins of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as Mormonism) and the violent consequences of firm beliefs. As a devout Mormon, what Pyre discovered made him begin to question his own beliefs.
