Huang Wenxiu, who graduated with a master's degree from Beijing Normal University, gave up a job opportunity in a big city and returned to her hometown where she was born and raised. She worked in the Propaganda Department of the Baise Municipal Party Committee. In 2018, she volunteered to serve as the first secretary of Baini Village, one of the poorest villages in Guangxi. During the day, she visited poor households from village to village and analyzed the causes of poverty. At night, she worked with the "two village committees" to study poverty alleviation countermeasures and formulate work plans to promote them. Huang Wenxiu overcame difficulties and made unremitting efforts to help 88 poor households get out of poverty in more than a year.
